Joseph K. Russell House, 1847
Joseph K. Russell, married to Milan Harris’ daughter, Lucretia Jane, was employed by his father-in-law as overseer in the Harris Mills. Their house sits on high ground behind the brick church and next to Island Cemetery. It is large, clapboard sided, and Greek Revival in style. To accommodate its sloping site, the house has 2½ stories on the village side and only 1½ stories on the cemetery, or northwest, side. Its five-bay lateral facade has a center entry with sidelights and pronounced corner blocks. A barn is attached at the rear, as is a small ell to the southeast.
Privately owned.
